Class of 2023 Academic Achievements image

The faculty, staff and Governing Board are pleased to share the academic achievements of the Bret Harte Class of 2023. Esmeralda “Rubi” Rodriguez will complete her time and dedication at Bret Harte earning the distinction of valedictorian, and Dakota Stephens earning the distinction as salutatorian. Both students will be honored at the Commencement Ceremony scheduled for Friday, June 2.

Both students were honored at the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors meeting last Tuesday, April 11 with a County Proclamation.

Rubi Rodriguez was honored as the December Rotary Student of the Month, whereas the following information was shared at the December 9 luncheon. “Rubi Rodriguez is another quiet leader who demonstrates with actions, not words. Rubi shined for four years on the Bullfrog volleyball team, and currently represents her school on the field for soccer. Rubi fills her plate with AP and honors courses and is an active member of Interact, California Scholastic Federation, and Spanish Honors Society. Rubi is described as a reliable student with incredible work ethic. Rubi focuses UC Davis as her college of choice where she also wishes to major in aerospace engineering. While busy academically and athletically, Rubi finds time for her hidden passion of baking cakes.”

Dakota Stephens was honored as the February Rotary Student of the Month, whereas the following information was shared at the February 16 luncheon. “Part of being a student leader is the ability to look in multiple directions. Dakota has that capability. He can look back at his roots, as he has spent many seasons helping coach youth wrestling, displaying passion and patience. He also looks forward, as he constantly prepares for the future, filling his plate with honors and AP courses to prepare his entry into college. Dakota has been a determined leader in Football and Wrestling, showing by example to his peers and younger student-athletes. Besides sports and academics, Dakota also fills his time with Outdoor Science Club and CSF. Dakota targets are Oregon State and Montana State where he plans to major in pre-med to prepare a career in orthopedics.”

Congratulations and well done, Bullfrogs!
