Last week one of Bret Harte’s own was honored as the keynote speaker at her alma mater’s Hispanic Heritage Month Reception, hosted by the Latino/a Law Student Association of DePaul University College of Law in Chicago. Cindy Medina-Cervantes, Bret Harte class of 2008, reflected on her journey as a first-generation attorney and college student.
Thereafter, Medina-Cervantes was officially sworn in as president of the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois for the 2024-2025 term during their annual gala on October 4 among esteemed judges, attorneys, elected officials, and community leaders at the beautiful Navy Pier in Chicago.
Cindy Medina-Cervantes graduated from Bret Harte in 2008 in top two of her class. Thereafter, she attended George Washington University earning a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs in 2012 and then pursued and earned a Juris Doctorate degree from DePaul University College of Law in 2017. Medina-Cervantes is currently a senior associate at Clyde & Co, an all-legal servicing law firm, focusing on toxic tort litigation or litigation related to toxic substances.
Blanca Medina, sister of Medina-Cervantes and current Bret Harte bilingual paraprofessional, shared that “Although [Cindy] no longer resides in Calaveras County, she remains deeply grateful for the invaluable experiences and support she received from the teachers, staff, and community which significantly contributed to her personal and professional growth.”
