Coming to the Bret Harte campus February 2025 is One Campus Grocery! This homegrown campus-based grocery store will serve the school community through food assistance to students and their families. This whole-campus effort is currently building their pantry in preparation for their kickoff food drive scheduled to coincide with Kindness Week in Calaveras County.
Staff and student organizers are now accepting shelf-stable donations, such as sauce, soup, beans, pasta, boxed juices, long-life milk, peanut butter, crackers, beef jerky, etc. Donations can be made to the school office, located at 364 Murphys Grade Road, during normal school hours.
Currently and during the inaugural food drive, groceries will be distributed to students and their families on an as-needed basis as inventory allows. Pre-packaged weekly bags are currently being built and distributed with the goal of opening One Campus Grocery for students to “shop” for items they need most. The grocery store is located in the 20s building between Vallecito and the Wellness Room.
One Campus Grocery’s mission is to address food insecurity within our school community by providing needs-based food assistance to students and their families. By providing students with the resources necessary to focus on their learning and thrive, we can foster a healthier, more connected campus.
“First and foremost: thank you to our amazing community who continually show up to go above and beyond for our students,” shared Ms. Beckman, the project’s co-organizer and Vallecito instructor.
