Competing in the 46th Mother Lode Regional Academic Decathlon competition this past Saturday, February 1, these talented group of Bullfrogs earned a return trip to the California Academic Decathlon state competition scheduled to begin on March 21, 2025 in Santa Clara. With its largest team to date, Bret Harte earned at least three medals in each of the ten categories in this year’s decathlon theme, Climate Change. Earning a total of 65 medals, the team was led by junior Brayden Bowersox who earned five gold medals, including an impressive perfect score in speech.
Representing Bret Harte will be seniors Amelia Baxter, Rae Cox, Carnegie Hall, Cosimo Nesci, Sophie Smylie, and Stella Stammerjohan; and juniors Brayden Bowersox, Gabriel Forjan, and Cheyenne Stephens. Previously, two Bullfrogs medaled at the California Academic Decathlon competition with two gold medals; Jackson Oliver ’21 in math and Owen Gayle ‘24 in speech.
