After Friday's Mother Lode League wrestling tournament, Bret Harte claimed three individual League champion titles. Senior Manny Bettencourt earned the League's top spot in the 128lb weight class, a place he held in 2023, and thus qualifying for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Boys D5 wrestling tournament scheduled to begin Friday, February 14 at Calaveras High School in San Andreas.
Joining Bettencourt at the top was junior Ryan Lee who is a third-time League champion, most recently in the 134lb weight class. Lee, along with senior Simon Akers and sophomore Toby Siegler, punched their tickets for this weekend's D5 wrestling tournament. Both Bettencourt and Lee received the first seed. Post-season details can be found on the Sac-Joaquin Section's website.
Lastly, junior Peyton Lawrence earned the League's first girls League champion title in the 140lb weight class on Friday. Lawrence, seeded at #4, will travel to the Section's Girls Southern Regionals scheduled to begin Friday, February 14 at Central Valley High School in Ceres.
