Jon Byrnes was recognized as the Teacher of Year this week at the Governing Board meeting. "Some of my favorite moments at Bret Harte have involved Jon," shared Jacob Holt, school principal. He added, "One in particular is when Jon set up his 'Free Advice' station at lunch...and had students after students lined up to hear his thoughts. Whether it is during lunch, or in the class, Jon's sage advice is both kind and wise. Jon likes to say that some kids are good for track, while track is good for others. I can confidently say that Jon Byrnes is good for Bret Harte and we are lucky to have him here."
Byrnes, a Bret Harte alum, is a 25-year veteran teacher of the District. His students affectionately refer to him simply as, "Byrnes."
