NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING : A public hearing will take place at the next regular board meeting regarding Standards-Aligned Instructional Materials on Monday August 5, 2024. Closed Session begins at 4:30 PM and Open Session begins at 5:30 PM. The Governing Board encourages participation by parents, teachers, members of the community interested in the affairs of the school district, and bargaining unit leaders, and shall certify that each pupil, including English learners, in the district in grades 9-12, has been provided with a standards-aligned textbook or instructional materials, or both, that are aligned to the state content standards as required by CCR, Title 5, Section 9531 and Education Code 60605 and consistent with the content and cycles of the curriculum framework adopted by the State Governing Board to use in class and to take home. The Board shall also certify the availability of laboratory science equipment as applicable to Science Laboratory courses offered in grades 9-12, inclusive.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE: Public Hearing and Proposal for Implementing School Facility Fees as authorized by Education Code Section 17620 and Government Code 65995: Please take notice that immediately following a public hearing on the matter, a proposed resolution(s) will be considered by the Governing Board of Bret Harte Union High School District at its regular meeting on June 17, 2024, at 5:00 PM., which if adopted by the Board will implement development fees established by the District against residential construction and reconstruction at $2.07 (40 percent of $5.17) per square foot and against new commercial or industrial construction at $0.34 (40 percent of $0.84) per square foot. Education Code Section 17620 and Government Code Section 65995 authorize the proposed fees. Data pertaining to the cost of school facilities is available for inspection during regular business hours at the district’s administrative offices. The fee, if approved by the Governing Board, will become effective on August 4, 2024, which is 60 days after the proposed adoption of the resolution levying such fee by the Governing Board.

BHC3A - Early Release Reminder: WHAT IS BHC3A?! Bret Harte Celebration of Achievements, Arts and Academics is an annual celebration hosted by Bret Harte Renaissance to recognize those with achievements is academics, athletics and the arts. This day of fun begins with a quick ALL periods 1-7, followed by an awards assembly, and concludes with Day on the Green, an end of the year celebration for students and staff. SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS: Join the faculty and graduating class of 2024 for the annual Scholarship Awards Night next Wednesday, May 22 at 6:00 PM in the Bret Harte Theater. Last year, our Bret Harte community gave scholarships totaling over $151,000 to the graduating class of 2023. Due to the generosity of our donors and community, Bret Harte Union High School is privileged to award scholarships to our current seniors to further their academic and career goals after they graduate. CLASS OF 2024: "Good afternoon, It is hard to believe, but the end of the school year is right around the corner, and for our graduating seniors, that means the end of their high school career. This is a time of reflection and celebration. One of the most cherished celebrations we have is our graduation ceremony. This year, the Bret Harte Union High School graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, May 31 st, beginning at 7:30pm on Dorroh Field. In order for students to participate in the Graduation Ceremony, students must first successfully meet all of the graduation requirements. Additionally, we will hold mandatory graduation practices on Wednesday, May 29 th, and Thursday, May 30 th, from 8:30am - 10:30am. In order for a student to participate in the Graduation Ceremony, students are required to attend both practices. If a student does not attend those practices, the student will not be allowed to participate in the Graduation Ceremony on Friday, May 31 st. Although the thought of saying farewell to our seniors comes with mixed emotions, we are thoroughly excited to celebrate their accomplishments with the collimating event of Graduation.
