“Dear Bret Harte Families and Staff,

After watching the news last evening, I am writing to express my deep concern about the recent incidents in the valley with students bringing weapons to school, or making social media threats. These are serious issues that must be addressed immediately.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priority. We have zero tolerance for any form of violence or threat of violence on school grounds or through social media.

We work closely with law enforcement to investigate these incidents as they occur and ensure that appropriate disciplinary action is taken against those responsible. However, we need your help.

Please talk to your children about the dangers of bringing weapons to school or making threats on social media. Monitor their social media accounts. Explain to them that these actions are illegal and have very serious consequences, not only for themselves but for their families as well.

If your child sees or hears anything suspicious, please report it to a teacher or administrator immediately. We all have a responsibility to keep our schools safe and secure.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Sincerely,

Scott Nanik, Superintendent”
