Congratulations to September’s students of the month, Taleah Lusk and Wyatt Tiscornia, who were honored at the Angels-Murphys Rotary Luncheon on Thursday, September 14. The following information was shared about each student.

Taleah Lusk: “Taleah’s past and present can be characterized by the concepts of focus, excellence, and specialization, showing long-term planning for her future. Like many SOM award recipients has her schedule is filled with honors courses, and her waking hours filled with clubs and activities. Taleah’s extra-curricular activities include stats for boys’ basketball and massive four-year involvement in FFA highlighted by service as chapter secretary. Her community activities focus on giving back to her roots including taking stats for Mark Twain Elementary, FFA community service, and working goat shows. Taleah plans to start at Modesto Junior College where she hopes to intern at JLG followed by a central path to Texas A&M or Oklahoma State. She plans to follow her direction in agriculture with a Major/Minor in Agribusiness and animal/dairy science.”

Wyatt Tiscornia: “Wyatt recognizes the adage, ‘With great powers comes great responsibility,’ which is why he takes seriously all positions of leadership and being a positive role model whether it is within the classroom, on the court, in the pool or on the field. Teachers can count on Wyatt’s engagement during class discussion and his willingness to work within a team project or going solo as needed. While at sporting events, if Wyatt is not in the middle of the competition, he is leading the home crowd in a spirited and good sportsmanship manner… His school activities include California Scholastic Federation, GSA, Christians on Campus, Spanish Honors Society, Circle of friends, Academic Decathlon, and Leadership… Wyatt’s dream colleges include Florida State University and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. For his major, he is considering either civil engineering or history which will lead to a career in engineering or teaching high school history with a side order of coaching basketball.”
