Congratulations to Bret Harte Students of the Month for October, Nekos Lagomarsino and Angela Espejel, who were honored at the Angels-Murphys Rotary Luncheon on Thursday, October 12. The following information was shared about each student.
Nekos Lagomarsino: “Nekos displays strong leadership in and out of the classroom. He is adept working solo or as a team member, but his strength shines when he is contributing within a group. His club participation includes California Scholastic Federation, Spanish Honors Society, Interact, Academic Decathlon, and Friday Night Live. Nekos proudly represents Bret Harte in multiple sports: track, tennis, and currently cross country. In terms of community service, if you attended Murphys Irish Days, you may have run into Nekos who volunteered time with other Bullfrogs. Nekos’ target colleges include UC Davis, Cal Poly SLO, and CSU Monterey where he plans to major into Kinesiology, Biological Sciences, or Pre-Med fitting one of his career goals involving Physical Therapy, Dermatology, or Dentistry. Nekos has been a trail blazer as early as fifth grade, as he informs us, he then grew his first mustache. He has always been a positive leader, even back then.”
Angela Espejel: “Angela approaches all her activities with great dedication and passion. Her plate includes the range of AP and college-prep courses while participating as an active member of California Scholastic Federation, Future Farmers Association, School Site Council, where she acts as President, and as Treasurer for Leadership. On the field, Angela has played soccer and is a thrower in Bret Harte’s Track & Field team. Her community service includes coaching U8 for Ebbetts Pass Youth Soccer and participating in AMA sports as a cheerleader and snack shack worker. Angela’s top three colleges include Chico State, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and University North Carolina (GO Tarheel Soccer!) Her choice of major is Business to prepare herself for running her own business, which we can easily visualize. Angela has shown an ability to compete, as she has won BMX state-championships multiple times and qualified for the World Championship three times, where she participated at age ten.”
