Congratulations to the Students of the Month for December, Braxton Edwards and Lilly O’Geen, who were honored at the Angels-Murphys Rotary luncheon yesterday December 5 in Murphys. The following information was shared about Braxton and Lilly.

Braxton Edwards: “When asked to list their impact on their peers and community, some people find it easy to overlook the difference they make. Braxton is one of those people. When asked about his contributions, Braxton at first drew a blank, but his friends had no difficulty helping cite what he does. Braxton has been a long-time advocate for Friday Night Live and participant in the anti-bullying program Mark Twain Elementary and Avery Middle School. He has also been a volunteer for the tri-county LGBTQ program. He has also been a stage manager for several local plays. Within the community, Braxton has participated in drives for clothing, food, and shoes. Braxton plans to attend Santa Rosa junior college where he will major in chemistry. His goal is to use these skills and knowledge to take over running the family wine business. In the past, Braxton wanted to be a tattoo artist. While that job may not come into fruition, we can bet Braxton’s artistic skills and passion will shine through his career.”

Lilly O’Geen: “Lilly O’Geen is a passionate performing arts performer who loves to share her love to people of all ages. Lilly has represented the Bullfrogs in soccer and cross country including a successfully strong season this year. Should you partake in watching fine arts of Bret Harte Drama productions, you will certainly recognize her performances. Lilly has been active with Renaissance, Outdoor Science Club, CSF, Ski Club, Academic Decathlon, Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She has served the community in several Michelson fundraisers as well as serving on the Calaveras Youth Council. Lilly has not zeroed in on which college to attend, but among her top choices include Arizona State University, Long Island University, and American University in DC. She plans to obtain her BFA in Musical Theater, with her eye on theater production for kids. Among Lilly’s dreams include travel to Italy with her grandmother to get in touch with her heritage.”
