Angels Camp, CA - March 6, 2025 – The Bret Harte High School Fire Tech Program recently conducted a comprehensive training exercise involving all local fire agencies. The exercise provided valuable hands-on experience for students and fostered collaboration among the region's firefighting professionals.
The training exercise simulated a realistic emergency scenario of a six-car accident, allowing students to apply their classroom knowledge in a controlled environment. Under the guidance of experienced firefighters, students practiced essential skills such as fire suppression, search and rescue, and incident command.
"This exercise was an incredible opportunity for our students to gain practical experience and work alongside the dedicated firefighters who serve our community," said John Parks, Fire Tech Program Instructor at Bret Harte High School. "We are grateful to all the agencies that participated and helped make this event a success."
The training exercise involved the participation of multiple fire agencies, including Ebbetts Pass, Murphys, Angels Camp, Altaville Melones, Copperopolis, and CalFire. This collaboration allowed students to witness firsthand the coordination and teamwork required in real-world emergency situations.
"We were impressed by the students' enthusiasm and dedication," said John Rohrabaugh, Fire Chief of Angels Camp Fire Department. "This exercise not only provided valuable training for the students but also strengthened the bonds between our agencies."
The Bret Harte High School Fire Tech Program is a unique educational opportunity that prepares students for careers in the fire service. Through classroom instruction, hands-on training, and mentorship from experienced firefighters, students gain the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in this demanding field.
The success of the multi-agency training exercise highlights the program's commitment to providing students with a well-rounded educational experience.
