Congratulations to the Students of the Month for March, Caitlin Johnson and Sierra Johnson, who were honored at the Angels-Murphys Rotary luncheon today Thursday, March 13 in Murphys. The following information was shared about Caitlin and Sierra.
Caitlin Johnson: “Caitlin approaches everything with full commitment, never doing anything half-way. She has been an active member of FFA, the Forestry Club, the Outdoor Science Club, and the Skiing/Snowboarding Club. Beyond school, Caitlin has worked at the Bear Valley Adventure Company during all 4 years of high school, as a customer service representative. She also contributed to her community through the Hazel Fischer Science Fair, Bear Valley Trash Cleanup Day, Summer Volleyball Camp, the Junior Bullfrog Track Meet, the FFA Food Drive, the Kids’ Toy Drive, the Women’s Blanket Drive, and even the often-overlooked task of assisting with parking at local cross-country meets. As an athlete, she has proudly represented the Bullfrogs in volleyball, cross-country, and track. Her passion for the outdoors is evident in her adventurous hobbies, which include scaling El Capitan. Caitlin plans to attend Colorado Mountain College, majoring in psychology as she prepares for a career in clinical psychology. The passion for psychology was realized during her study abroad in the United Kingdom where she took a class in criminology and sociology."
Sierra Johnson: “Sierra is often quiet in class, which can sometimes mask her strong leadership abilities. An avid water sports enthusiast, she proudly represents Bret Harte in both Varsity water polo and Swim team. She is also actively involved in FFA spending countless hours contributing to BBQ potlucks, Cowpie Competitions, Floral Adult Class help, Kiss-a-Pig rallies, and Tri-tip dinners! She is also active in the Outdoor Science Club, and the Forestry Club. As the editor of the school yearbook, Sierra skillfully balances the art of delegation with the relentless cycle of deadlines. Her commitment to community service is evident in her role as a Cabin Leader for the Mark Twain Science Camp. Sierra has been accepted to several colleges, including Fresno State, but has narrowed her choices to Northern Arizona University and Chico State, where she plans to major in nursing, specifically as an emergency response or Registered Nurse. In her free time, she enjoys interior decorating, frequently refreshing her room’s look with new designs. This passion for change aligns well with her aspiration to become a traveling nurse, providing urgent care around the world.”
