Bret Harte CTE program advisors and students at Occupational Olympics at Columbia College

Bret Harte was well represented at the annual Tuolumne and Calaveras County Occupational Olympics held at Columbia College yesterday April 10. Bret Harte Fire Tech had a clean sweep in fire technology with first, second, and third place finishes. Sophomore Isaac Farias took first, senior Wyatt Skrobecky second, and junior Julian Plascencia third place.

The Auto program also performed well with senior EJ Schwartz taking home first place. Welding secured three of the top five spots with senior Steven Schimp placing first, junior Carson Prescott fourth, and senior Edgar Tenorio fifth place. Securing a fifth-place finish in digital photography was senior Julius Hill.

Occupational Olympic winners received a $100 Amazon gift card, while second place received $75 and third place $50. Additional gear and tools were awarded for auto tech winners. With well-over 100 high school students competing, the regional competition also featured a forestry and natural resource category competition.
