Students of the month for April, Sophia Keirns and Anastacia Sharp

Congratulations to the Students of the Month for April, Sophia Keirns and Anastacia Sharp, who were honored at the Angels-Murphys Rotary luncheon today Thursday, April 17 in Murphys. The following information was shared about Sophia and Anastacia.

Sophia Keirns is known by our staff for her remarkable focus and intensity — qualities that shine through in everything she does. Academically, Sophia has embraced every challenge placed before her. She has balanced a rigorous course load filled with Advanced Placement classes, while also taking on additional coursework through nearby Columbia College, including College Calculus! And if that weren’t impressive enough — she has done it all while earning the distinction of Valedictorian, with a Cumulative GPA of 4.27. But Sophia is not just a scholar. She’s an athlete, too — a dedicated member of Bret Harte’s cross country, track, and soccer teams. Beyond athletics, she’s been actively involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Forestry Club, and the California Scholarship Federation, and she’s competed as part of our Academic Decathlon team. Her contributions extend far beyond campus. Sophia has supported a local youth group Bible study, volunteered at Science Night at Hazel Fischer, and helped lead youth camps for both soccer and track.Next fall, Sophia will attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where she plans to major in Electrical Engineering. We are so proud of all she has accomplished and can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.”

Anastacia Sharp is a student who sets the bar high — not just for others, but especially for herself. She is known for her attention to detail, her strong work ethic, and her dedication to everything she takes on. Academically, Stacia has gone above and beyond, setting herself apart from her peers with an extraordinary record. She has completed seven college-level courses — all while studying Japanese — and has maintained an outstanding GPA of 4.17, ranking 4th in a class of 128. Remarkably, she has never received a single B on her transcript. Her academic excellence was further recognized on a national level when she was named a QuestBridge Finalist — placing her in the top 10% of more than 25,000 applicants across the country. Her involvement at Bret Harte has been wide-ranging and meaningful. She’s been active in the California Scholarship Federation, FFA, Gender Sexuality Alliance, and Robotics. But perhaps most notably, Anastacia has made her mark on the Bret Harte drama department — particularly in our musicals — where her choreography in the school’s production of Chicago showcased both her creativity and leadership. Outside the spotlight, Anastacia also plays both piano and harp with great skill. In our broader community, Anastacia’s heart for service is clear. She has supported Families in Need through her role in Miss Calaveras, helped clean and care for the Mountain Ranch cemetery, and organized dinners for those experiencing homelessness.Anastacia will be attending either UC Davis or UC San Diego, where she will major in general biology on her path toward a future career in orthodontics. We’re excited to see all that lies ahead for her.”
