QTR ONE GRADES: Last Friday, October 11th marked the end of the first quarter of the 2024-25 school year. Please refer to the Campus Parent Portal to view your student's 1st Quarter Report Card. From the Main Menu, select Documents > 1 st Qtr Report Card for the current school year. If your student is receiving a D or F on this report card, they may be at risk of failing. Your student is considered academically ineligible and may not participate in sports if he/she has a GPA of less than 2.0, has 2 F's, 2 INC's or an F & an INC on their report card. Important Student Safety Reminder Regarding Highway 4 Bus Stops \\ "We would like to bring an important safety concern to your attention regarding student transportation practices. It has come to our attention that some students are crossing Highway 4 to access earlier bus stops. While we understand that students may be trying to optimize their transportation times, it is our district's established practice that students should not cross Highway 4 to reach a bus stop. Highway 4 is a high-traffic area, and crossing it on foot poses significant safety risks. Student safety is our highest priority, and while we cannot practically enforce this restriction at all times, we strongly urge parents and students to adhere to our guidelines to ensure everyone's well-being. Our district follows guidance outlined in California Code of Regulations Title 13, Section 1238, which mandates that bus stops be placed in safe locations and prohibits students from crossing major highways like Highway 4. This regulation emphasizes the importance of minimizing exposure to hazardous traffic areas and ensuring that bus stops are accessible without the need for dangerous crossings. Compliance with these regulations is critical to reducing risks and safeguarding our students. We ask for your cooperation in discussing this with your child and reinforcing the need to use designated, safe bus stops that do not require crossing such dangerous roadways. FFA UPDATE: "On Wednesday, October 9th there will be the mandatory parent and exhibitor meeting for anyone interested in showing cattle with Bret Harte FFA at the Calaveras County Fair in May 2025. We will be reviewing and passing out contracts. Therefore, if you think you might want to show cattle with us at the fair, please plan on attending this mandatory meeting. This meeting will be held in the theater beginning at 6:30p.m. Following the parent and exhibitor meeting, we invite you to join us at our monthly FFA meeting in the theater at 7:00 p.m. We encourage you to attend and listen to the activities we have coming up and there will be a fun game of pie walk! A few other reminders as they approach are listed below:
• Cow Pie tickets are due FRIDAY OCTOBER 4th, 2024.
• Fall FFA Jacket order deadline is Friday 10/11. Please have your student pay Mrs. Sugar $85 and then take your receipt to Mr. Sawyer to be measured for a jacket.
